Suffering Through Period Pain is NOT Normal

This one gets me all fired up. Maybe it's because I grew up with the belief that women were cursed to always be in pain and it made my body an enemy, maybe it's because I, like many others, have gone without the understanding of what my body is doing so I disconnected due to my misunderstanding and it's been a years-long process finding my way back.

This crap teaches women that regardless of the pain they're experiencing, they should medicate, detach, and use all manner of numbing tools to ignore the important messages their bodies are trying to communicate.

It's also because it further impresses this mentality that women have to do it all, all the time, regardless of if they want to or should. Women walk around with stored trauma in their womb spaces while neglecting their natural way of working and then wonder why PCOS, infertility and crippling period pain are at an all-time high.

We push ourselves beyond the brink of exhaustion and then wonder why we have no sex drive, are short with the kids, nag our husbands, and have symptoms of disease pop up left, right, and center.

None of the above-mentioned experiences are normal.

Sadly they are common but they

Are.

Not.

Normal.

Your body wasn't designed for pain and exhaustion.

  • It's not a normal mom thing to be flustered and spacey all the time.

  • It's not normal for you to have to pop painkillers to get through a period.

  • It's not normal to be agitated with the people around you and have to warn your family members that it's almost "that time of the month".

Suffering is not your birthright, it is an unfortunate result of misinformation and disconnection from our bodies.

Honoring your natural phases, learning how to create space and live in a way that maximizes the energy fluctuations you have, resting, and taking ownership of your body is going to change your life.
